Percussionist, composer and music educator Gary Fieldman is active in a variety of musical genres throughout the US and Europe. He has performed with Joanne Brackeen, David Liebman, Bill Frisell, Ben Monder and Bevan Manson, and has recorded with Don Byron and George Garzone. In addition, Mr. Fieldman has been section percussionist with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra for ten years and is currently principal percussionist with the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra–a touring ensemble performing exclusively in major European festivals including in Spain at the prestigious "Festival Internacional de Santader".

Mr. Fieldman began his musical career at an early age when his parents bought him a drumset to replace the chairs he had destroyed while playing along with Beatles records. His most important teachers have been Warren Myers, next to whom he eventually played in the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra percussionist Tom Gauger with whom he studied with while earning a bachelor's degree in classical percussion from Boston University, and Bob Moses.

In 1996 Mr. Fieldman received a master's degree in jazz studies from the New England Conservatory. There he worked with Fred Buda, Bob Moses and Bevan Manson. He currently teaches in the Preparatory and Continuing Education Divisions there, as well as at the Rivers Community Music School in Weston, MA.

Now busy in a community of musicians and artists with similar creative interests, Gary has recorded widely for various labels including Biba, Sachimay,Telepathy, Blue Pantry, and with his first solo project Field Effect, The Gary Fieldman Quartet, which can be found on Rotary Records.
